May I take this opportunity to congratulate the Ivorian people in their Endeavor for Justice and search for democracy. Their bravery and Will for justice was inevitable. I would like to wish the President elect, Alassane Ouattara, Peace and Justice, hoping that he will not walk the wide way of his predecessor Gbagbo.
We should also not forget the support that Africa has received, this time around, from the international community. My particular thanks goes to France for acting in support of the Ivorian people’s Will, and for democracy. Preventing a disaster from happening is not only good for Africa, but also for you. Ivorians do not have to migrate from their natural wealths to become refugees in France.
I also commend the support from the AU presented to Gagbo through the Kenyan Prime Minister Odinga. I only wish he accepted the deal. Long live Ivory Cost! Long Live Africa!
Although the law of un intended consequences will apply in this case, we are sure that the same resilience of the Ivorian people will pull them up to take charge of their history to shape their own destiny. We do not want the French to re-colonise the country, we just want them to participate in our struggle for fairness and democracy because they have a stake in it.
Africa does not have to be re-colonized again but when we have black Africans neo-colonialists who are even worse that the former White colonialists, then the common people are left with no other choice than to call for help from the international community. We also call upon the International Criminal Court to demand accountability for crimes committed against humanity in Ivory Coast resulting from the election crises. Let us together eradicate Impunity and neutralize all its agents,
That is why we appreciate the involvement of the French soldiers because they, are indeed behind the historical injustices connected to the colonialism. Now is the time for the former colonialists to seek forgiveness from the formerly colonised people through actively engaging in their cause for Justice and restoration.
