As a Maasai African person, I find it irrational that a human being claims that it is wrong to kill food animals for food. However, according to the Maasai, animals are killed for food and not for sports or any other pleasure. Animals are highly respected therefore mistreating animals in any way is an offence punishable by traditional laws, a crime that can taint one’s status in the society for many years.
Are you are vegan? do you get worked up when you see people living on meat as if they were carnivorous? Give us your views.
Industrial production of meat and meat products is crippling into all societies where capital and benefit becomes the center control power.
Personally, I feel guilt conscious buying minced meat at ICA due to the fact that I cannot tell where the meat comes from and how the animals was treated before slaughter. It is very encouraging to go shopping at ICA and see a pack of meat with a label, “Originates from Sweden” The paradox is that locally produced meat is normally more expensive than imported frozen meat.
To me, I thing nature is valuable! It feels the damage we inflict on it. Cutting down a hundred year old tree takes the earth a hundred years to grow the same tree. For this reason, the environment must be taken care of by all human beings on earth. It is OK to slaughter animals in small scale according to need. It is beneficial and environmentally viable to promote local production policies that control prices for local products while taxing importation of e.g. meat and meat products from far countries.
Being a vegan does not solve the problem. The problem was not about man-eating animals for food, that is just a moral and natural food chain, which is environmentally healthy to maintain. The problem is when you have industrial controlled meat production, which causes animal suffering and death without remorse.
It is immoral and should be seriously and lawfully cubed. However, animal production costs the earth a lot if not well managed. Apart from emitting gas which was previously stored in the vegetation, cows requires a lot of land for raring and when the industrial cities demand for more meat, transportation of meat from country sides and even to far countries leads to even more gas emission.
The world needs a powerful body to manage environmental issues by implementing collaborative measures between rich and poor states to save the environment.
I belief that the economy of the most developing countries, depends on agricultural production. The developed nations should support the poor countries with cheap technology to produced agro-products locally to prevent importation of e.g. fertilizers.
Why should the poor countries import expensive fertilizers when they use the locally available mature to increase agricultural production? In addition, the rich countries shall stop importing meat products from poor nations and instead, promote their own markets to reduce transportation emissions.
Human being has a moral and natural right too, to humbly and with love slaughter food animals and eat them for his survival without causing danger to himself and to the rest of life on earth.
Q. For the sake of sustainable environment, do you think EU and America should aggressively stop all meat importation from poor countries and strictly abide to local production of meat and meat products?
