TEMPORARY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
KEMRI/CDC RESEARCH AND PUBLIC HEALTH COLLABORATION

Program description: The GAP Treat/ARV program, under the KEMRI/CDC program, is supporting provision of HIV Care and Treatment services in siaya, Ugenya and Gem District and Nyanza PGH. It is in this mandate that the program has 17 openings for clinical officers.

POSITION: Clinical Officers (17 POSTS) –MR7 (Job Group MR K)
Location: Siaya, Ugenya, Gem districts and Nyanza PGH

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have Diploma in Clinical Medicine.
• Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
• 1 year relevant work experience in the management of HIV patients, both provision of ART and management of opportunistic infections.
• Must have a good understanding of HIV management, including provision of ART, Care and management of opportunistic infections.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to coordinate and supervise provision of HIV care and treatment services at facility level.
• Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
• Ability to work well in a team, and be able to collaborate well with the Ministry of Health and other partners.
• Fluency in both English and Swahili, written and spoken. Knowledge of Dholuo is an added advantage

JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Officers will support provision of HIV care and treatment services in health facilities in the 3 districts.

Duties and responsibilities:
• With guidance from the Technical Advisor, and in liaison with MOH, DHMT and KEMRI clinical teams, provide HIV care and treatment clinical services at designated health facilities within the 3 districts.
• Offer technical support, coordinate, supervise and perform day to day clinical activities within health facilities in the district
• Ensure continued provision of quality services at existing HIV care and treatment facilities, and offer mentorship support for initiation of new sites.
• Facilitate linkages across different HIV programs areas at health facility level.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the technical advisor.
Terms of Employment: Contract is 6 months renewable as per KEMRI scheme of service. Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on educational levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency.
